While the mission of the Greater Charlotte SPCA is to improve the quality of life of homeless animals, we can't do that at the expense of our volunteers and the well-being of the general public. By definition, our adoption events are close contact and often crowded, precisely the type of gatherings we are being told to avoid. Following the guidance of the healthcare leaders in our country, we are suspending all adoption events until further notice. We are disappointed, and we are worried about being able to find homes for the animals in our care currently and the ones we have already committed to pulling. So we are asking everyone to commit to helping network our adoptable animals in any way possible. Please use all social media to share the animals in our care. Please take the time that you would typically spend at an adoption event to promote the adoption of our dogs and cats on-line. The next few weeks are going to be inconvenient, and we are likely to see a drop in the number of animals we can save during this pandemic. But rescue is a marathon, not a sprint, and we all need to live to fight another day.

For all of those people who have thought, "I don't think fostering is for me, but I could maybe do it in an emergency," now is your time. We are in an emergency, and the need is urgent. Your help is desperately needed. If you can find a place in your home and heart - even for just a few days, please email foster@charlottespca.org, and we will get you set up.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. We are trying to navigate what is in the best interest of the animals we serve, without putting our priceless fosters, volunteers, and the general public at risk.
